DEA'S RAID OF COLORADO MARIJUANA GROWER

Colorado has many problems these days, but it seems some legislators
(e.g., state Sen. Chris Romer) and media (e.g., The Denver Post) are
fretting over the distribution of medical marijuana. What problem are
they trying to solve? Is something wrong with the sales tax dollars
that are flowing into Colorado's treasury? Is it the legions of
pothead zombies wandering the streets, annoying people and committing
crimes?

Perhaps a precipitous rise in the price of potato chips? Could it be
the fear that someone, somewhere, is actually enjoying marijuana? Or
is it the horrible specter of someone who isn't medically qualified
obtaining it?

"The intent of Colorado voters" is frequently mentioned, but just what
was that intent? Not to make marijuana legal, surely, but to ensure
that people who need medical marijuana for physical conditions are
able to get it. That is happening now. Those who are worried about it
would be more productive to concentrate on the other issues facing
us.
