MEDICAL MARIJUANA
Re: Marijuana Does Help Certain Patients, letter to the editor, March 8.
What letter-writer Dr. David Saul does not mention is that the College
of Physicians and Surgeons does not have an approved protocol for
"close monitoring for benefits and side effects, compliance of dosing,
negative risk avoidance strategies," and following up regularly for
doctors who have patients who use cannabis.
If Dr. Saul has developed an effective protocol for this, he needs to
share it with others.
Dr. Saul clearly wants to be involved with his patients' therapy. He
has taken the initiative where 99.9% of other doctors have followed
their college's lead. Now, Dr. Saul needs to convince the College of
Physicians and Surgeons to adopt his progressive stance and help their
members help their patients.
