TOWN IS GOING TO POT

After reading all the news stories on the pot busts and the ongoing
investigations into same, one begins to wonder where it will end.

Will we ever have a comprehensive plan on illegal drugs or are we
going to carry on with our "cops and robbers" game. I don't smoke
anything, nor do I agree to the use of tobacco. Tobacco is a legal
substance that kills, although somewhat slowly, so why not legalize
marijuana?

Legalize it for personal use and limit growing to three plants,
anything else you get hard time automatically.

Make the penalty so severe that the perpetrators will think about what
they're doing.

As for the addicts out there, you made a conscious decision to start,
don't whine about your problem. Why should the rest of us supply you
with drugs and needles. Social assistance is for the helpless and
downtrodden, not to be used to support a lifestyle that returns
nothing to the community.

As for those that say we should go easy on "druggies", well guess
what, they don't care one iota about anything but themselves.

We all sit in our homes and declare something should be done about it,
but when it comes election time, we buy the same old line of garbage.
When are we going to smarten up and tell our politicians we're sick
and tired of being forced to tolerate the misbehaviour of a few that
affects so many. First and foremost, education is the key.

The more we keep a watch on our children, the better the results of a
cleaner world. How about having a school program that lays out the
dangers and consequences of drug and alcohol abuse. Hiding our heads
in the sand don't quite cut it. For those involved in the drug trade
that get killed by their cohorts, it looks good on you, just saved us
the cost of a trial.

As for the "moms" out there that weep alligator tears for their
"little boys", maybe a bit more personal attention and a little less
tolerance to abhorrent behaviour would save you a lot of grief.

Maybe it is time to set up a "boot camp" where these yougsters can be
sent where toeing the line is mandatory to their survival. I'm getting
sick and tired of these individuals spouting about their rights, but
they have no compunction about breaking mine or invading my home.
