NO 'POTHEADS'

I read Floyd Krautner's letter to the editor ("Don't hide heads in
sand over drugs"). What a bunch of garbage.

We El Pasoans sleep good every night knowing our city is safe. We
don't have the big-city problems, although we are one. We don't have
the same problems as Bakersfield, Calif., for sure.

We're not worried about another Al Capone, as was written about. We
don't worry about Mexico's problems spilling over to El Paso. We
worry about raising our children right.

We strive hard to educate our kids properly and raise them to be
good, law-abiding citizens. We worry about "potheads" who want to
legalize drugs so they can buy them cheaply and use them often. We
don't need legalization of drugs in America or El Paso.

If California wants to legalize drugs, go ahead. Just keep them
there. Stay away from our great city.

Besides, El Paso has the finest police force in the country plus
thousands of battle-hardened troops residing at Fort Bliss.

In addition, El Paso has over 50,000 veterans who know the difference
between right and wrong. We don't lie in fear or hide our heads in
the sand, either.
