POT AND RELIGION

Roger Christie's pot promotion letter (Tribune-Herald, Jan. 12) for
religious use demands a response. Though both the RCC and RCC -- the Roman
Catholic Church and Roger Christie's Church -- may have the legal
constitutional right and freedom to use drugs (alcohol and pot) in their
"communion services," neither has the biblical right.

Jesus Christ, the founder and sole authority of the "churches of Christ"
(Romans 16:16), clearly stipulated that his "Lord's supper" was to consist
of unfermented "fruit of the vine" and "bread" and not any intoxicating
substances (Matthew 26:26-28; Corinthians 10:16).

We must worship God, according to Christ's New Testament (John 4:24), and
not bow to civil law. To abuse his communion or his church members is a
very serious transgression, according to His law (I Corinthians 11:26-30).
