MAN STABBED IN MARIJUANA GROW RIP
A man was stabbed Wednesday in east Maple Ridge during an attempted
robbery at a marijuana grow operation.
Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to the 12200 block of 234th Street
around 9:50 p.m. after a gunshot was heard.
On arrival, officers found a bullet had struck a neighbour's garage
door and discovered the home housed a growop.
Police allege the man who was stabbed fired the gun shot after two
men tried to force their way into his home. He was arrested at the
scene before being taken to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster.
"This incident was clearly a targeted event, surrounding the illegal
growing of marijuana," said Ridge Meadows RCMP Supt. Dave Walsh.
"Anytime someone uses a firearm, the safety in our community is jeopardized."
The RCMP Lower Mainland District Police Dog Services and the RCMP
Helicopter, Air 5, were called to look for the home invaders.
Two 29-year-old men were arrested nearby on 230th Street.
During the search of the house, Ridge Meadows RCMP also recovered a
rifle they believe was the gun used to fire the single shot.
All three men were held in custody overnight for a court appearance Thursday.
