POLICE SAY 2 DRUG MARTS SHUT, 29 CHARGED
CHICAGO -- Police on Friday charged more than two dozen people and
said they have shut down drug market operations in two Chicago neighborhoods.
The sweeps, called 24K and Rock-n-Roll, targeted drug sales in
Edgewater and the Henry Horner/West Haven Chicago Housing Authority
complex. Three vehicles, 18 grams of crack cocaine and $1,884 in cash
were seized, officials said.
Fourteen people were charged with drug-related crimes in 24K and 15
in Rock-n-Roll. There are warrants for three more people in drug
sales around Horner/West Haven.
The housing complex drug market made about $10,000 each day, police
estimated. Both were organized by street gangs, police said.
