WRONG TARGET
When I saw the headline "To stop the drug cartels" over The
Chronicle's Dec. 21 editorial, I thought (silly me!) that was aimed at
the likes of Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline and the other members of Big
Pharma, whose power in Washington means that Americans pay - and will
continue to pay, under "health-care reform" - the world's highest
prices for drugs.
What a letdown that the reference was to the Mexican drug trade,
which, violent as it is, doesn't kill nearly as many people as the
lack of access to medications for needy Americans.
