WHITE DOESN'T GET THE DRUG ISSUE

EDITOR, THE TIMES:

RE: Randy White calls for moratorium on drug strategy:

It is no wonder many so people consider Randy White an ideologue and
a zealot. By his own words and actions he has demonstrated that he
favours drug prohibition.

For those still unclear, drug prohibition is a government policy that
subsidizes organized crime by making certain drugs illegal. This
policy makes those drugs easier for kids to access that alcohol or
tobacco and increases gun and property crime.

It is also a policy that treats a person with a medical condition as
a criminal, fills our jails to overflowing, is hugely expensive,
discriminatory, and completely ineffective.

But then, White and his other Tory accomplices have this twisted
vision of a "drug-free society," which realistically is impossible,
naive and absurd.

Drugs of one kind or another have been with man since before recorded
history - and will still be here after we are all long gone.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, the Tories have already made up
their minds, and are completely unconcerned with "facts."

I supposes this is what happens to a person when they adopt a drug
policy on the advice of Tom Cruise.
