1 HELD AFTER DRUG RAID
Police have a suspect in custody facing drug charges after they raided
a west-end home near a high school Monday and found thousands of
dollars worth of marijuana and a small amount of Percocet tablets.
"The location of this residence is of particular concern to the
Windsor Police Service as it is located in very close proximity to
Forster secondary school," said police spokesman Sgt. Brett Corey.
Officers with the drugs and guns unit executed a search warrant in the
3200 block of Bloomfield Road around 12:50 p.m.
Police say the marijuana had a street value of $15,763 and that they
also seized a "large quantity" of cash.
David Garlick, principal at Forster, said he wasn't aware of the drug
raid.
"I'm just surprised it was right across the street," said Garlick.
"I'm glad the drugs are getting removed before they can get to our
school."
Johney Davids, 16, a Grade 10 student at Forster, said there isn't a
strong presence of drugs at the school.
"I don't think people do it at school," said Davids. "I think they do
it after and outside of school."
Garlick agrees Forster isn't any worse than other high schools. "Every
school has some issues with drugs," he said. "Forster's issues are no
greater or lesser than any other high school in Windsor-Essex County."
