LEGALIZED MARIJUANA REDUCES PROBLEMS

I agree completely with Victoria Coun. Philippe Lucas: We know that cannabis is a safe
and effective medicine. We also know that it is generally safe for non-medical use and
certainly much safer than legal drugs like tobacco, alcohol and even caffeine.

Virtually all of the problems typically associated with cannabis arise
because of its prohibited status. A clear majority of Canadians want
change. It is heartening that some politicians, like Lucas, are
listening to the voters.

If elected officials in Ottawa displayed the common sense shown by
Lucas, our country would be much better off.
