DRUG-DRIVING LAW UNFAIRLY TARGETS MARIJUANA USERS' RIGHTS

This is a scam aimed directly at pot users (Re: "Police Plan To Crack Down
On Drug-Drivers," Oct. 14). People on "legal" drugs will walk, if they are
even charged, but pot users will be charged in droves.

The science shows that pot users are no more danger on the road than
anyone else, but the cops know that they are easy pickings. Pot can
show up on a drug test several months after the last toke, even if
that "toke" was only a whiff of secondhand smoke. Imagine getting
busted for drunk driving five days after drinking a single beer, and
you can see what pot users are now up against.

All the cops have to do is profile the young, the poor, people of
colour, and people with non-regulation haircuts, demand a sample
(refusal to comply with this grossly unconstitutional policy is an
automatic admission of guilt); it will be like shooting fish in a barrel.

The media-addled public has been so indoctrinated to believe cops - no
matter how outlandish or non-sensical their rants - and this is how
laws like this get passed. So much for charter rights.
