COURT SEIZES HOUSE AFTER POT-GROWING OPERATION FOUND
A Surrey home has been seized by the courts after a marijuana-growing
operation was found in the basement nearly three years ago.
The home, located in the 16000 block of 85B Avenue, is valued at
$615,000. Trong Hieu Vu has been convicted of several charges,
including production of a controlled substance, possession for the
purpose of trafficking and fraudulently consuming electricity or gas.
The forfeiture of the house was ordered by the provincial court last
Friday.
Since 2002, Surrey RCMP have worked with the courts to issue 21
criminal forfeitures associated with marijuana-growing operations. The
average worth of the properties is $500,000, with the most valuable
being a farm worth between $3 million and $5 million. Other assets
seized by the courts have included cars, forklifts, tractors, and
utility trailers.
