DRUG DEALERS' WHEELS ARE BEING AUCTIONED

It's like a modern-day Robin Hood.

That's how B.C. Solicitor General Kash Heed described the province's
Civil Forfeiture Office on Tuesday as he was in Surrey to see four
vehicles seized as proceeds of crime put on the auction block.

"There are few things in this world as revolting as people who profit
from illegal activity while destroying lives, communities and a sense
of security," Heed said. "Each of these vehicles was used as a tool to
traffic drugs.

"Like a modern-day Robin Hood, civil forfeiture takes the tools of
criminal activity away from the criminals and channels them into
funding programs that prevent crime and help victims."

The four vehicles are open to bidding until 10 p.m. Oct. 22, on the BC
Auction website at www.bcauction.ca
