KEEP DRUGS FAR AWAY

Now that marijuana is becoming a legal drug, we have marijuana gardens
cropping up all over the county and dispensaries on every corner. As a
control, marijuana gardens should be grown in a proper zoned area,
such as we do with commercial business. Marijuana gardens should not
be allowed in residential or agricultural zoned areas.

Typically, the gardens are not small individual gardens. A person can
obtain a number of medical recommendations for different individuals,
which allows for a very large garden. Due to the size of the gardens,
I feel the residents will not speak out for fear of retribution. I
don't think they realize what is going to happen to the property
values around their homes as well as the feeling of insecurity and
uncertainty of safety.

In years past, Happy Valley and Shasta Lake had terrible reputations
due to all the drugs located in their areas. Now, just as we are
beginning to clean these areas of drug dealing, the state of
California decided to bring them all back. Happy Valley has shown what
can be done by building beautiful subdivisions and making this area
very respectable. It's been a very hard fight for our local Sheriff's
Office, and it's a shame to see that effort all go to waste.

Please call your county supervisor and let him or her know your
feelings and ideas.
