PAIN MANAGEMENT DOCTOR: DO NOT APPROVE A MEDICAL MARIJUANA FACILITY

Dear Editor,

I am a physician licensed to practice medicine in the state of
California, and am board certified in physical medicine and
rehabilitation, spinal cord medicine, with two board certifications in
pain medicine/pain management.

It has come to my understanding that the City of Gilroy intends to
allow and approve the establishment of a medical marijuana center.

Let me just emphatically state for the record that I am diametrically
opposed to having a medical marijuana clinic anywhere in the
tri-counties.

I am an established and experienced physician who takes care of
disabled patients due to an injury or due to chronic pain. I can
authoritatively state that there is no justification for treatment of
patient with chronic pain using medical marijuana, and that terminally
ill patients can be well managed via the Hospice system.

Our fair city is notorious for being the Garlic Capital. Do we now
want to be known as "Pot City"? This is not an intelligent way for the
city to generate new revenue, and I can say that Gilroy might lose our
much-needed clinic.

I beg the powers that be not to allow this clinic to open within our
tri-county area.

Maureen D. Miner, M.D., Gilroy
