FORMER KAMLOOPS RESIDENTS 'EXECUTED' IN MEXICO

Mexican police are investigating what they call the "execution-style"
murders of two former Kamloops residents on Sunday.

Gordon Douglas Kendall and Jeffrey Ronald Ivans were shot just after
midnight outside the condominium where they were living in Puerto Vallarta.

The gunmen fled in two vehicles.

The Mexican online newspaper Noticiaspv.com reported the murders were
the result of "an adjustment of accounts," and police were monitoring
entrances and exits to the city, looking for the vehicles, a Nissan
and a black sedan.

One of the pair shot back during the firefight, witnesses told police.

Photos of the graphic crime scene show Ivans wearing a "Hockey Hall
Of Fame" shirt, while Kendall is shirtless.

The Mexican news report said Kendall was shot 15 times with two guns
while Ivans was shot five times with one gun. It said each was shot
in the head as they lay on the ground.

The Puerto Vallarta News reported Ivans was inside the condo when the
shooting started and came outside, "but his executioner overtook him
and delivered several bullet holes in the skull."

The men attended Kamloops senior secondary.

Many of their friends from Kamloops joined a Facebook page created
shortly after news of their deaths was known.

Among testimonials posted are:

"I honestly have no words. This is just so tragic. Both were loved by
so many, so many great memories to hold onto. I'll never forget the
good times at Rossmore Lake and ice fishing at this lake, the Place
Inn, boating at the lake just so much to remember. You are both loved
and cherished forever. My love goes out to your families. RIP boys.

"I can't believe it. This is so wrong. But I know that all of us that
knew these guys will remember them! I didn't personally know Jeff,
but Gord was my buddy back in the day and always had me laughing. You
will both live on forever in our hearts and memories."

Ivans was fined in a B.C. court in 2002 for possession of marijuana.
