CHANGES TO MEDICAL MARIJUANA LAWS NEEDED

The following refers to an Associated Press article in The Maui News
on Sept. 3. In a nutshell: Federal prosecutors fined Pfizer Inc. $2.3
billion for illegal drug promotions. According to the article, some
transgressions involved marketing drugs for uses not approved by the
FDA and "backed by false and misleading claims about safety and
effectiveness."

These are the same people who oppose medical marijuana. Follow the
money. Of course there is money in medical marijuana, but there are
important differences. They need to lie about their product and we
want to present the truth. They spend fortunes on kickbacks and
lobbyists and we want to finance our schools. They take local money
and we support local businesses.

Maui County Citizens For Democracy In Action has authored four
ordinances to address Hawaii's incomplete medical marijuana laws. This
is a concern to our community. For more information on the proposed
county ordinances, please contact MCCFDIA at info@mccfida.com. In
addition, we encourage you to call your County Council member to
discuss our efforts.
