HOW HEROIN IS NO STORM

Re: "After the high - A decade later, some users and their families
still grapple with drug's devastating effects," Tuesday news story.

Linda Stewart Ball's comparison of a tornado to heroin again leaves
me disgusted again with biased journalists who reflect a permissive
society riddled with moral ambiguity and an unwillingness to assume
personal responsibility.

Tornado victims are guilty only of being in the wrong place at the
wrong time. Heroin does not descend on a random community, leaving
death and addiction in its "wake." Heroin must be sought out,
purchased and deliberately ingested.

These people die or ruin their health, causing anguish for families
and friends. "Victims" of heroin? No. Victims of selfishness and
stupidity? Yes.
