MARIJUANA DESTROYED
More than 29,000 marijuana plants from more than 400 sites were
destroyed by police during the yearly marijuana harvest project on
Vancouver Island.
The majority of growing sites were north of the Comox Valley.
Both RCMP and Canadian military helicopters were used to transport
officers into the remote locations.
"This is not a harmless or victimless crime. The marijuana being grown
in our backcountry will put money and weapons in the pockets of
criminals, it's that simple," said RCMP Cpl. Darren Lagan.
