CAREFUL READER QUESTIONS COP'S MATH SKILLS

Re: "Pot operation busted," Alberni Valley Times, Aug. 31.

RCMP math always amazes me.

Yes, it is possible for a cannabis plant to produce a kilogram of
dried herb. Normally, strains capable of such bounty are sativas that
like to grow closer to their native equatorial range, some well into
November.

A cannabis plant two metres tall that can produce a kilogram belongs
in a museum.

Two hundred and fifty plants producing a magical kilogram each
(picture a little pot fairy and sparkles) at maybe $3,500/kg in B.C.
and along the Trans-Canada Highway in Alberta, would suggest they're
close.

But unless the RCMP clipped off all the buds and factored in the
moisture content, all they're doing is puffing themselves up with
numbers they want us to drool over.

These numbers are miniscule compared to the $500 million they spend
annually busting 5% to 10% of outdoor growing operations.

The war an some drugs was never meant to be won. It's been nothing but
a massive recruiting program for corrupt officials to spend their
careers lying about the Earth's most medicinally active and
industrially versatile plant.
