PRINCE OF POT COMETH

The Marc Emery Farewell Canada Tour Summer 2009 is his chance to take
a final speaking tour in Canada before he is sent to prison in the U.S.

The "Prince of Pot" Emery will be coming to Nelson, speaking at the
Capitol Theatre at 7 p.m. tonight. His message is "Canadians need to
know ending prohibition is the most valuable political act of our time."

Emery has been known as a book seller and activist in Canada for 30
years, fighting against censorship laws and other social issues long
before he became a drug law reform activist. He has been a media
figure for 20 years with regards to marijuana and drug law reform.

Because Emery was so successful in fighting against the US-led War on
Drugs, the powers in America decided to shut him up. The U.S. Justice
Department and DEA had Canadian police help execute a raid and arrest
for extradition.

Emery was sought on three charges for selling pot seeds across the
border via mail, through his pot culture magazine Cannabis Culture.

Emery was facing a possibility of 25 years to 75 years in a U.S.
prison. His lawyer has advised him to take a plea deal, agreeing to a
sentence of 5 years. Emery is expected to turn himself in in August
to authorities.

Emery says that his store, website, The BCMP offices, Pot.TV will all
continue in his absence.

Emery has never, ever stopped fighting for what he believes in.

"I love doing this," he said. "I grew up in the '60s thinking this
is the best thing you can do, is fight for the oppressed, the
underdog, against the government who has all the money, all the
power, all the laws. I'm quite convinced I was destined for this."

Admission is free.
