CANIM LAKE STUDENTS DARE TO WIN

Graduates of the DARE program at Eliza Archie School were all smiles
May 18.

Canim Lake Band elders joined parents, school staff and other students
in celebrating the dedication and hard work of the DARE program
participants.

The graduation ceremony is the pinnacle of the DARE program. During
the ceremony, students read the short essays they composed, outlining
facts they learned during the course. Each of the participants then
made a pledge to stay off drugs and alcohol.

A special addition to this year's ceremony was a reading by parent and
teacher

Lindsay Dixon. The essay was from an unnamed former student and
epitomized the spirit of the DARE program.

In all, 13 Grade 4 and 5 students participated in the 10-week
program.

100 Mile RCMP Const. Ian Henderson said he was both proud and honoured
to be able to bring the program to Canim Lake this year.

Based on the enthusiasm and knowledge shown by the students in his
class, Henderson said he is confident these youngsters are fully
equipped to meet many of life's challenges in the future.

"Well done and good luck troop," he added.
