MAKE IT LEGAL
During my 18 years of police service, I learned that the use of
marijuana was never a cause for a 911 call. By contrast, the use of
alcohol generated about 1,300 calls, including suicide, rape and
assault. The report on the California relationship with marijuana said
in silence that the massive, near legal status and use of the drug has
caused no problems to law enforcement worth mentioning. Only its
prohibition makes its clandestine and destructive production a problem.
Of the hundreds of street cops I have spoken to across America, well
over half wish that marijuana was legal, regulated and taxed. The rest
simply like the overtime of making the easy, safe pot bust.
