ASTOUNDED DRUG CASE DISMISSED

Re: Top court dismisses $4M drug conviction, July 18

I was totally astounded by this article. I thought cocaine was an
illegal substance, and any anybody found with it in their possession
faced criminal charges?

Does the Supreme Court of Canada expect a police officer to obtain a
search warrant before they can search a person's car? I would think
that any law-abiding citizen realizes the seriousness of drug abuse
and would let a police officer check their automobile if they were
pulled over, and not consider this an infringement of their "Charter
of Rights" or privacy.

Drugs are a problem and the only way to eliminate them is to
co-operate with the police 100 per cent. If you have nothing to hide,
you have nothing to fear.

Supreme Court justices are out of touch with reality. Does it really
make a difference why this guy was stopped? He had drugs in his
possession and was driving with a suspended license.
