ALTERNATIVE CARE CLINICS PROVIDE INFORMATION ON MEDICAL CANNABIS

Alternative Care Clinics (ACC) offer evaluations for patients who wish
to learn more about medical cannabis. Legal in the state of
California, ACC has evaluation offices in Temecula, San Diego, Long
Beach, Palm Springs and Los Angeles.

We specialize in alternative medicine, and specifically, our doctors
are specialists in the cannabis field," said Jonathan Arbel, ACC
spokesperson. "We evaluate patients to see if they qualify for
cannabis use as a medicine under Proposition 215, which is the law
that makes all of this legal."

Medical marijuana is California State-approved, Arbel said, and "has
been shown to provide relief from pain."

Cannabis has helped more than merely cancer and AIDS/HIV patients,
Arbel said. Others who have found relief from pain and other disorders
have included those suffering from glaucoma, migraines, nausea, neck
and back pain, muscle spasms, arthritis, seizures, Tourette's
syndrome, sleep disorders, multiple sclerosis, post-traumatic stress
disorder, depression and anxiety. It has also provided respite for
those living with chronic pain.

The law is written in a way that you don't have to be dying to use
cannabis," Arbel noted.

People from all walks of life are utilizing medical cannabis. ACC
patients range in age from 21 to 88, Arbel says, and can be someone's
next door neighbor, accountant or even attorney.

Some of our patients have never smoked cannabis before and are looking
for a new form of treatment," he said.

For a variety of personal reasons, many are trying to wean themselves
away from pain pills and are instead utilizing medical cannabis.

There is no overdosing with cannabis - no one has ever died," Arbel
said.

Confidentiality is of the utmost importance at ACC. And contrary to
popular belief, he said, there is no list of names of medical cannabis
users floating around police departments and government offices.

The reality is that such a list does not exist - it's a myth," Arbel
said. "People are protected by California HIPAA [Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act] laws, so whatever happens behind
closed doors between you and your doctor is to remain
confidential."

ACC is not a cannabis dispensary. It's a comfortable office setting
where people have the opportunity to speak with a physician to discuss
medical cannabis and possible treatment plans during an evaluation.

Arbel said opting to use medical cannabis is simply a health
alternative to traditional medicine, as is chiropractics, yoga,
acupuncture and the like.

At ACC, one can find cannabis literature along with cannabis
cookbooks. Smoking cannabis, Arbel added, is not the only
alternative.

We recommend that patients ingest [cannabis] and also use a
vaporizer," he said. "When a vaporizer heats up to 350 to 400 degrees,
a patient can inhale the cannabis and this is a healthier alternative
to smoking it."

Likewise, at dispensaries patients can purchase cannabis products such
as brownies, butter and even ice cream.

ACC offices are warm, inviting and very professional. Its staff is
trained to educate patients on cannabis facts, its legalities and
general rules.

For Arbel and his associates, the best part of their job, he said, is
seeing how they have helped others.

Patients who are using medical cannabis tell us how much it has
impacted their condition in such a positive way that they have given
up their pain pills," Arbel said.
