MOGUL'S DRUGS FORTUNE TO GO TO CHARITY

PROSECUTORS have given up their battle to seize ex-Bay City Rollers
manager Tam Paton's £5m estate.

The Crown Office had frozen the assets of the former pop mogul
following his death in April.

Specialist teams had planned to recover at least some of his fortune
amid suspicion the bulk of the assets had come via profits from drug
dealing enterprises.

But yesterday his lawyer revealed that the application had been
dropped and Paton's legacy could now be shared out in accordance with
his will.

It was claimed much of the former Bay City Rollers manager's millions
will now go to charities.

Paton's criminal lawyer, Frank Moore said there remained a question
mark over cash that was found in Paton's Gogar home during the last
raid.

Paton died following a massive heart attack at his mansion on 8 April
this year.

He made millions following the success of the Rollers in the 1970s –
but became a much more controversial figure in recent years.

In 1982, he was convicted of sex offences against two
boys.

Drug squad officers twice raided his home and found cannabis
there.

He had already handed over £180,000 in crime profits following a drug
conviction.
