ADDICTS CAN'T RECOVER UNLESS THEY LEAVE THEIR 'HOOD

Re: McTreatment won't meet needs of addicts, Sound-off, May 30

With all the support drug addicts get to maintain their habits, it's
no wonder that no one wants to have them around. But those who have
shown some kind of effort to get out of their addictive lifestyle
need to be able to live in recovery centres in an environment away
from the one that feeds their habits. Addicts should be encouraged to
change their lives, without the expectation of failure.

After all, the many socially functional drug users from these
neighbourhoods who don't want treatment centres in their areas
created the addiction process in the first place.
