NEEDLE CRISIS DEMANDS ACTION
I applaud the efforts of Harm Reduction Victoria and participants in
the "guerrilla needle exchange" to provide a vital health-care
service to one of our community's most marginalized demographics,
homeless intravenous drug users. The "no-go zone" policy puts people
at undue risk for contracting HIV and hepatitis. In a public health
crisis, someone needs to step in and start delivering the services
that our healthcare providers won't.
