DRUG HYPE HYPOCRISY

I have paradoxical feelings on the issue of drugs. I favour
legalization, yet I really do not advise people to use drugs for
recreational purposes. With some exceptions (the medicinal use of
marijuana), people will do themselves harm by using illegal drugs.

It should be noted, though, that people already do themselves harm by
using perfectly legal drugs such as tobacco and alcohol.

The argument for legalization is overwhelmingly convincing. This is
one of those issues, like the abolition of slavery, women's suffrage,
etc, for which only one conclusion is possible. Future generations
will marvel at the idiocy of the war on drugs.
