TORY POLICIES FIGHT DRUG CRIME
I am astounded and amazed at Penny Powers' letter to our member of
parliament Cathy McLeod about the drug policy. One can only conclude
from her letter that the drug wars in the Lower Mainland, where some
20 people have been killed, even innocent people walking the streets,
that this is OK with the writer.
Or that " Since 2006, more than 7,000 people have been murdered in
Mexico bloody drug wars" (Macleans, May 18, 2009).
The new policy will take away the double time reduction of sentences
for time spent waiting for the trail to begin, and will bring more
meaningful and appropriate sentences for the crime committed.
