POT ACTIVIST CHARGED

Abbotsford marijuana activist Tim Felger has been charged with a
number of drug offences for allegedly selling pot to teens out of his
storefront downtown.

Wielding a warrant issued under the Controlled Drug and Substances
Act, patrol officers and the drug squad busted the Da Kine shop on
Essendene Avenue and arrested Felger just after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

"What caused us to do the project were repeated community complaints
that indicated that the store, and Mr. Felger specifically, were
selling drugs to students and youth," said Const. Ian MacDonald. The
infamous Da Kine store, which sells drug paraphernalia, is plastered
with signs decrying the drug war and calling for an end to drug prohibition.

Arrested along with Felger were Stephan Roy Allingham and Natasha Kaye Healy.

All three are charged with one count of possession for the purpose of
trafficking.

Felger is also charged with six counts of trafficking while Allingham
and Healy are charged with four counts.

Allingham and Healy have been released on bail. Felger has been
remanded in custody until they all appear in court again on May 21.

Felger is currently facing two counts of assault after getting into
an altercation with two 17-year-old Yale Secondary students while he
was handing out literature outside the school last April.

Police raided his Bradner Road home in January 2005 and found more
than 2,000 marijuana plants.

Felger has said he paid a $210,000 fine for the "medical grow" in
2006, which according to him is the largest fine of its kind in Canada.

Felger has made an unsuccessful run for politics on more than 10
occasions, and according to background he provided during his
political campaigns he majored in environmental economics at Ohio
State University.

Felger said he started the Domino's Pizza franchises in B.C., before
buying a cattle farm after he moved to Canada.

He opened the Da Kine store in Abbotsford four years ago.

He has staged numerous marijuana smoke-ins at the business and in
local parks over the years.

As he was escorted out of the store on Wednesday Felger was vocal in
his assessment of the situation.

"Remember the drug war and all the kids that died!" he yelled. "This
is just killing the kids left and right, and they're arresting me for
marijuana."
