Guess who is happiest about these busts?: Other dealers.
The only thing the police accomplished with these busts is to make the
90-95 per cent of growers and dealers they will never catch all that
much wealthier. The cops are not making a dent in the drug industry -
they aren't even scuffing the paint.
There is no better way to subsidize a gangster than to lock up more of
his competitors for longer periods, and every time the police destroy
a pound of weed, they help out the guys that are not getting caught.
