CAN'T MAKE IT MUCH CLEARER

Last week Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman conducted a countywide
media blitz in an effort to make it crystal clear what the rules are
in this county for medical marijuana patients and growers.

This follows meetings with local defense attorneys to make the same
pitch, which is: Legitimate medical marijuana patients and their
legitimate caregivers have nothing to fear in this county if they
follow the rules.

And while this county took a step forward with the passage Measure B,
there are still lots of illegal marijuana growers out there who think
this county is still the place to come to grow as much marijuana as
they can get away with for a quick profit.

Sheriff Allman can't make it much clearer and we support his
department's continuing to bust growers who are not within the limits
of the laws.

Prosecuting those illegal growers remains a challenge for our
District Attorney and we have heard that many of them are walking
away with nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

But if their crop has been eradicated and their property seized, then
the local deputies have done their duty and those actions continue to
send an important message to opportunistic growers that this county
is no longer the place where illegal pot growing in large quantities
is tolerated by either law enforcement or the community at large.
