TEARS SHED FOR 'ANGEL' GONE TO HEAVEN

Mom Sends Ecstasy Message

The funeral for a 14-year-old who died after taking ecstasy was filled
with music, poems and culminated in a moving sing-along to the Miley
Cyrus song The Climb.

Cassie (Eyre) Williams's friends and family crammed into every pew at
the Evergreen Funeral Home yesterday, with some standing against the
back wall.

They remembered the teen as a confident and fun-loving girl who loved
to sing and easily made friends.

She died April 25.

"Cassie had attitude and she spoke her mind," family friend Mark Judge
said during the eulogy. "She is now, and forever will be, our angel."

Judge also touched briefly on the way in which the teen
died.

He said earlier in the week he asked Williams's mother, Angela Eyre,
what message she would like to come from the tragedy.

MADE A MISTAKE

"Cassie had a choice and she made a mistake," Eyre told Judge. "Cassie
wouldn't want anyone else to make that mistake."

Williams's sisters, Deanna and Alana, delivered an unrehearsed speech
for their little sister, who they say brought much happiness into
their lives.

"She was my hero in a lot of ways," Deanna said. "She was confident
and she wasn't afraid of anything."

The service was peppered with pop songs by artists like Celine Dion. A
close friend also played a piece he had recently written for her.

Williams was taken off of life support April 25 after she became sick
from taking six pills of ecstasy at once before attending the West
Edmonton Mall Rock 'n Ride dance party the previous night.

BEST FRIEND LIVED

Her best friend Ashley, 14, also took the drugs and became ill, but
lived.

That same day police tracked down a 16-year-old alleged drug dealer,
who they believe is connected to the case, to the area near 105 Street
and 106 Avenue.

He suffered "medical distress" as officers were handcuffing him,
police said. He was taken to hospital in serious condition, but has
since improved.

He could be facing charges.
