DRUG TESTING BILL FOR JOBLESS MEAN
I am writing you after reading your article on proposed bill S.B. 2062
by Sen. Mike Bennett. Is this a joke? Did I just not read in your
paper that Manatee County unemployment is at 10.1 percent compared to
the national rate of 8 percent? Is this all this man has to worry about?
I am sure there are people who abuse the system but in these times
there are more people who need help. As an employer who pays into the
unemployment fund, I think this idea of drug testing good people who
have lost their jobs and have no other choice but to collect
unemployment is unjust and mean. The vast majority of these people
would love to be working and collecting a paycheck.
Shame on Mike Bennett and the others in the Florida Legislature who
think this is a good idea. They should all wake up and smell the
coffee and find who really is collecting unemployment, or better yet,
maybe they should all put on their thinking caps and come up with a
solution to put people back to work.
