CHANGE NEEDED IN DRUG WAR
We received just one response to our Question of the Week. This week's
question: "U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has announced that
federal agents will no longer raid marijuana dispensaries in states
such as California, where medical pot is legal. Is this a victory for
patients, or does it undermine law enforcement?"
Over 11 years ago, a letter to the editor I wrote was published in the
Daily Breeze asking for change in the "war" on drugs and pointing out
that it was costing us more than $40 billion per year.
Now, almost a half-trillion dollars later, we find ourselves in worse
condition, with Mexico on the brink of narco-revolution. When will we
learn? When will we change? How stupid can we get?
