NO GOOD ARGUMENTS FOR CRIMINALIZING POT

Thank you for the side-by-side pieces (Open Forum, March 3) for and
against marijuana decriminalization. Some of the arguments against
the new proposal sounded very frightening, but the author could not
complete this sentence, "I think marijuana users should be put in
jail because ...." He admits this when he reassures us that "casual"
marijuana users are not being imprisoned.

Tax dollars should not be spent putting you in jail because you
prefer pot to booze.

Let's legalize the plant, and those opposed can drown their sorrows
in a tall glass of scotch.
