DOPE ISN'T THE ANSWER
Even if marijuana growth and sales become legal, it's highly unlikely
that the illicit growers of marijuana will suddenly become legitimate
growers and sellers of this product. We will have a few enterprising
individuals who will attempt to make a profit under strict government
control. The illicit farmers and traffickers have enjoyed huge success
in how they do business, so legalizing marijuana is likely to bring
little or nothing to the state in the form of tax revenue. Our
legislators should focus on sound fiscal policy to solve the debt
crisis. To encourage harmful and addictive chemical dependency is not
the answer.
