DRUG MONEY FUELS VIOLENCE
The Editor:
Al Capone, the most notorious gang leader of all time, was sent to
prison for life for tax evasion, not for gangland murders.
And we in Canada, and BC in particular, let the thugs spend their
tax-free ill-gotten gains to own businesses, homes and all sorts of
luxuries.
Billions of tax-free illicit drug dollars have floated around BC for
the past many years, all laundered through our economic system, very
rarely with penalty.
Until we start seizing these assets and tax evasion is treated as a
scourge on our society, nothing much is going to change on the streets
of Greater Vancouver or Victoria.
