STAGED JOKE WAS OFFENSIVE

Iwas upset by some comments made by state Senate President Richard
Codey, D-Essex, on the Senate floor in Monday's session. If you
watch the archived proceedings available from the Legislature's Web
site (and from the Opinion section of the app.com Web site), at
about 57 minutes in, Codey has a phone call staged after the the
medical marijuana bill passed.

He then states to bill sponsor Sen. Nicholas Scutari, D-Union, that
the call was from Michael Phelps, congratulating him.

I witnessed this comment and immediately looked at the dying
patients I was seated amongst in the gallery and could not find
anyone who was not offended by this staged joke.
