THE LESSONS OF HISTORY

Anyone who wants to make a blanket comparison between alcohol and
drugs hasn't seen the face of crystal meth. There are many hard drugs
out there that could never be taken socially, like alcohol, without
devastating results in a very short time. Legalizing drugs would make
the established gangs look elsewhere for profit. There's all sorts of
crime that brings in good revenue, so the magic bullet isn't blanket
legalization, but a large-scale crackdown with 20-year sentences.
When alcohol was legalized, gangs turned to drugs. If we legalize
drugs, what's next -- kidnappings, more identity theft? Get the bad
guys and build the prisons.
