NO LEG TO STAND ON

The letter from Scott Ziering ("Anti-pot mongers distort," Feb. 17) is
on the money. So egregious is the absurdity of our laws against
cannabis (marijuana) that those "anti-pot mongers" mentioned by
Ziering literally have no leg to stand on.

When the very foundations of laws are corrupted fictions based on
racial bigotry, how valid are they? Such laws have been steadily swept
from our society as the demand for equal civil rights gained first a
toehold and then moved to become our nation's dominant ideology.

Why then do we continue to accept cultural prejudice as the sole
support for pot laws so obviously based on lies. If there is any truth
to our laws against pot, I have yet to see anyone bring them forward
for sharing. Let us hear them, anti-pot mongers. But you won't,
because you can't.
