MARIJUANA MYTH
Re: Vancouver's Shame, letter to the editor, Feb. 19.
Your letter-writer states that "British Columbia has been competing
with Mexico as the main supplier of marijuana to the U. S. for years."
The fact is the number one cash crop in the United States is
domestically grown marijuana. The country grows more marijuana than it
imports. Of those imports, just 3% come from Canada, with the rest
arriving from Mexico.
Unfortunately in Canada, several police organizations have promoted
the falsehood that Canada is now the main supplier of marijuana to the
United States.
