NOTHING NEW ABOUT B.C. GANG RAMPAGE
Premier Gordon Campbell's posturing over gang violence might be good
for trying to get votes in the coming provincial election, but it does
too little, too late to solve the problem.
If Campbell was serious about the issue, he would have started his
campaign sooner. The evidence of these gangs and the volume of trade
in marijuana has been known for some time.
The BBC's east European correspondent, Misha Glenny, devoted a whole
chapter in his book McMafia, to the business of marijuana and gangs in
B.C. The BBC itself has reported on the issue, using an image of our
flag with the maple leaf replaced with a marijuana leaf.
If Campbell is concerned about our international reputation, he should
get serious about crime.
