PROHIBITION, CIRCA 2009
Christie Blatchford discusses two of the most serious social ills
associated with marijuana, namely huge profits funnelled to organized
crime and the proliferation of grow ops. However, these evils are a
consequence of our social policy - prohibition - and not the drug itself.
If the government were to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana, we
could eliminate both ills and begin a rational discussion of drug use
in this country.
