MARIJUANA FACTS
Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug in the U.S. The main
active chemical is THC, which stands for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS: Short-term effects include memory and learning
problems, distorted perception, and difficulty thinking and solving problems.
MEDICAL APPLICATIONS: Pain relief, relaxation, prevention of nausea
and vomiting, appetite stimulant, decreasing spasticity, mood enhancer.
OTHER INFO:
Despite its low toxicity, today's marijuana is 10 to 15 times
stronger than it was in the 1960s.
Synthetic THC is known as dronabinol. It is a legal medication
marketed under the name Marinol in pill form and as Sativex in spray form.
