UNIVERSITY WEEK TO FOCUS ON SEX, DRUGS AND ROCK AND ROLL

Sex, drugs and rock and roll are an integral part of the university
experience. However, University of Lethbridge students will spend next
week learning about all of the ins and outs with the help of guest
speakers and bands.

"This week is about celebrating sexuality and sexual diversity as
well as bringing students' attention to the dangers of ignorance of
sexual health and drug or alcohol abuse," said Jenn Prosser, ULSU
vice-president academic, in a press release which added the idea is to
stimulate intelligent discussion of the issues.

Dan Savage will be speaking at the university Monday.

The Chicago-born Savage has been writing a "snarky Dear Abby for the
sexually active" column for alternative weekly newspapers since 1991.
He will be on hand to answer any questions the audience has about sex
and relationships beginning at 7 p.m., in PE 250. It is open to
community members as well as students.

On Tuesday, there will be a free screening of Neil Young's
documentary "Rust Never Sleeps" in L1060 at 6 p.m.

On Wednesday, Jim Hilsenteger will be speaking in the atrium between
noon-1:30 p.m. about the war on drugs and its consequence - whether
taxpayers are getting their money's worth from the fight. He will also
touch on the legality of drug use and the industry behind it.

Finally, the university winds up the first ever event with a Thursday
night concert featuring up-and-coming Calgary talent Chad Van Gaalen,
Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and Calm as a Coma. Tickets for the event,
which is open to U of L students and a guest, are $12. It begins at 8
p.m.
