U.S. FUGITIVE FOUND IN THE OKANAGAN
A U.S. fugitive who police say may have been living in the Okanagan
for a few years is now facing deportation.
At around 10 a.m. Thursday, members of the RCMP, Canada Border
Services Agency (CBSA) and the U.S. Marshals converged on the Lake
Country home where William Clayton Brady had been living and arrested
him.
The 61-year-old was wanted for failing to appear in early 2003 at
Sheridan Federal Correctional Institute, outside Portland, Ore, to
began serving his five year sentence for weapons and marijuana
production charges.
Sgt. Ann Brinnen said source information received by U.S. Marshals
reveals Brady may have been living in the Okanagan area "for a few
years."
After receiving the information, the Marshals' office liaised with
CBSA before seeking RCMP assistance in apprehending Brady, Brinnen
said.
Brady is now set to be transported to Vancouver for an immigration
hearing which is expected to lead to his deportation to the U.S.
