TAS POLICE WARN OF DRUG SEARCHES AT MUSIC CONCERT

Tasmanian Police will use sniffer dogs to cut down on drug use at a music
festival in Launceston this weekend.

A 17-year-old girl from Western Australia died of a suspected drug
overdose at the weekend's Big Day Out music festival.

Friends of the teen told police she took three ecstasy pills at once
because she was scared she would get caught.

A New South Wales MP has urged police to stop highly-visible drug searches.

But Tasmanian Police say they have a "no tolerance" rule for all drug
users and dealers, and this weekend's MS-Fest will be no exception.

Ten thousand people are expected to attend the event, which raises money
for Multiple Sclerosis.

Organisers say they are giving people advance notice of the police
searches because they do not condone drug use and do not want to see
anyone panic and accidentally overdose.
